Official Training Manual (OTM) Overview
The Official Training Manual (OTM), published by CFA UK, contains essential reading for those seeking success in the IMC exam and provides comprehensive coverage of the syllabus. The 20th edition of the IMC training manual covers the syllabus for examinations taken from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023.
Please note: The syllabus cycle runs from 1 December to the 30 November. Each syllabus version has a corresponding OTM version. Candidates should ensure that they are studying from the correct syllabus and OTM version
- Syllabus version 20 is tested from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023
- Within the unit 1 exam the tax rates tested for the version 20 syllabus are those for the 2022/23 Fiscal year which runs from 6 April 2022 to 5 April 2023.
- OTM edition 20 should be used when studying for exams sat taken between 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023.
- Syllabus version 20 unit 1 - valid for exams from 01/12/2022 to 30/11/2023
- Syllabus version 20 unit 2 - valid for exams from 01/12/2022 to 30/11/2023
OTM upgrade: Annually, between December and January, all candidates who purchased the previous OTM version AND who have an open registration, are able to purchase the new edition OTM at a reduced fee. Eligible candidates are emailed in December with details on the OTM upgrade price and how to access this offer.

o Unit 1 Investment Environment – 100 hours
o Unit 2 Investment Practice – 120 hours - CFA UK is not a Training Provider
- BPP, Kaplan and Quartic are training providers who use the OTM within their training packages
- Approximately 40% of candidates now use the CFA UK Official Training Manual
- Approximately 20% to 30% of candidates are self-study candidates (who use the OTM and no separate training provision)
