We turn conversation into tangible change. CFA UK volunteers are driving the investment profession forward with insightful reports and position papers.

OUR THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

From 1 May 2025, CFA UK will no longer be accepting new registrations for the CFA UK Level 4 Certificate in Climate and Investing.

CFA UK continues to believe that a robust foundational program in Climate and Investing holds tangible value for investment professionals. However, the way investment firms are addressing the risks and opportunities presented by climate change is changing. Regulators are refining their approach and the approach learners favour is evolving, most notably with the growth in shorter form micro-credentialling.  As a result, we will no longer offer the Certificate in Climate and Investing in its current form.

However, we are reviewing the development of separate educational products and resources to support upskilling in the field of investments and climate.

We are actively considering several options and reaching out to key stakeholders to gather their feedback.

We welcome, in particular, the inputs of our CCI graduates and candidates and will be hosting a number of roundtables to gauge their and other people's views. The first roundtable will take place on Friday 25 April at 9.30 at CFA UK Offices. To book your place for the roundtable or, to provide your feedback if you cannot attend, please email Qualifications@cfauk.org.

What this means for current candidates

For those candidates who have an open registration and are currently studying for the Certificate in Climate and Investing, testing of the current Version 3 will be available to the end of your registration period, with re-sits available to the end of April 2026.

What this means for Certificate in Climate and Investing graduates

CFA UK is very proud of the Certificate in Climate and Investing and we will continue to recognise the success of everyone who has completed this robust, Ofqual regulated qualification, demonstrating extensive knowledge and skills in a rapidly evolving space. Details of the qualification will remain on our website and your digital badge will also remain in place.

Next Steps

For those interested in studying for an alternative program, you may wish to consider studying for CFA Institute’s Climate Risk, Valuation and Investing Certificate*, a 5-course series which you can take as part of an online cohort or via self-paced online learning. Set at an intermediate level and designed to develop your practical skills in climate investing, the climate investment certificate teaches you how to integrate climate considerations into investment-decision making.

You may be able to claim a discount of the full cost of your CFA UK Certificate in Climate and Investing registration (£535 / $650) from the CFA Institute Certificate fee if you:

  • Have previously successfully completed the CFA UK Certificate in Climate and Investing
  • Have an open registration and are currently studying for the CFA UK Certificate in Climate and Investing. You can still sit your examination within your registration eligibility dates which should fall no later than the end of April 2026. You will still be to claim the discount for the CFA Institute Certificate at a later date.
  • Have previously attempted the CFA UK Certificate in Climate and Investing but are yet to successfully complete the qualification.

To find out more, please contact Qualifications@cfauk.org.

*As a global program, the CFA Institute Climate Risk, Valuation and Investing Certificate is not subject to Ofqual regulation.

Learn the core principles of intangible assets, why they are much trickier to value within conventional accounting, and why what’s intangible can often create more value than what’s tangible from Stephen Clapham, Founder, Behind the Balance Sheet.
